The Premier Lacrosse League had their 2020 collegiate draft last week. Each team selected some of the finest in college lacrosse. That being said, it seems one of the top picks will already be on the move.
The Chaos LC are sending first-round pick Matt Gaudet to the Chrome LC in exchange for the 17th pick in the 2021 draft. The news was broken on the Premiere Lacrosse League’s official social media accounts.
Gaudet is Yale’s third time all leading scorer with 142 collegiate goals. He was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List, an award given to the most outstanding American lacrosse players. It would be comparable to college football’s Heisman Trophy. He was an outstanding offensive player who could also score from anywhere on the field.
The Chrome were the league’s bottom feeders in 2019. After adding Romar Dennis, they look to bolster their offense even more. They also find a true third attackmen for their offense in Gaudet. The Chaos get an additional draft selection in next year’s college draft. The Chaos must believe that there’s better value in next year’s draft. This move is certainly a bit of an odd one- Gaudet was one of the best Ivy League players in men’s lacrosse. The Chaos will have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds of next year’s draft, so the thought may be to stock up for the future.
