Today was a pretty uneventful day in Indy at the NFL Combine. The press conferences didn’t produce much drama and nothing significant happened at the weigh-ins. Still, we got some great tid-bits of information.
One notable thing is that all four of the top tackles; Jedrick Wills, Tristan Wirfs, Mekhi Becton, and Andrew Thomas, all measured in with 34″+ arms. That is what NFL teams like to use as a threshold to play tackle in the league.
We did get great news from Tua today though. He said his medicals looked good and he plans on being cleared by his doctor on March 9th. That would give him plenty of time to prepare a personal pro day before the late April draft.
Jordan Love handled his press conference with great maturity and humility. He answered all questions thrown his away even the ones about his struggles. Colt’s GM Chris Ballard even mentioned Love in his press conference when asked about the turnovers. He mentioned that Matt Ryan threw 19 interceptions his last year at Boston College. Like Ryan, Love was working with a less than stellar supporting cast in Provo this past fall. Looks like the Colts are doing their homework on their potential franchise quarterback.
Joe Burrow shot down all speculation that he will not play for the Bengals if they select him. He stated that he will play for any team that picks him.
There seems to be a friendly competition this week over who is going to run faster, Henry Ruggs or Jalen Reagor. Ruggs seems like the easy answer but Reagor is a freak athlete so you cannot count him out. They will be close to each other in the rotation so it will be a great show when they get to showcase their track speed.
I’ll be back tomorrow with more news out of Indy.
