The fighting Irish got some home cooking tonight in South Bend. Notre Dame calmed Hurricanes in South Bend with a 87-71 win. They get their 17th win of the season and move to fifth in the ACC. This was a great win with contributors from up and down the lineup. Both offensively and defensively the Irish played really well. So Let’s break it down.

The Irish played a fantastic game tonight. And they were actually consistent from the field. In fact they shot 47 percent from the field as a team. As well as shooting 45 percent from three point land. Tonight the Irish shared the ball resulting in many players being in double figures.
The Irish Offense was really sharing the ball tonight. And Great ball movement leads to an efficient night from the field. The screens and hand-offs led to alot of open looks. And tonight the Irish were hitting them. As a team the Irish had 21 assists to seven turnovers. So offensively the Irish were very efficient.
The Irish played sound Defensively as well. They held the Hurricanes to a 23 percent three point shooting. And held that offense to 33 one and done possessions. Which of course limited the Miami Offense. Also the Irish forced four steals and seven blocks. So they really worked hard and got work done at both ends of the court.
John Mooney is Mr. Double double. And in fact he got his 22 of the year. He did everything tonight. In 28 minutes, Mooney scored 19 points on nine of 16 shooting for 56 percent. As well as grabbing 12 boards, two assists, and two blocks. The production at both ends of the court
Tj Gibbs had a phenomenal night tonight. On the offensive of the floor he was lights out.
In 35 minutes Gibbs dropped 19 points by the means of seven for ten shooting or 70 percent from the field. He also was five for eight or 62.5 percent from behind the arch . In addition to his great offensive night he shared the ball with is wide open teammates. Defensively he was very active. He locked down his defenders and created three turnovers.
In conclusion the Irish played very well. They played very inspired basketball. They know that their is still a chance they can make the NCAA tournament. Mike Brey really has this team playing together and clicking at the right time. I know they still have a upward battle ahead. But they have moved from the bottom of the conference to ranked fifth in the ACC. If they play like this for the rest of the season they can make the Tournament.
